NO!!!!!! ...coming from an American...

NOOOO! They cannot be doing this!!! I LOVED the original, it was such a gem. Fox will just screw this up like no other and probably add a stupid laugh track or something. I was actually a little interested with The Office coming to America because i knew Ricky Gervais was attached to the project. Maybe if Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg were executive producers then I would be interested but since they have no affiliation with this project, I know it'll be a huge stinker.

Way to go Fox on making a huge mistake.

Why did you write that Jim? Is it because you know I love Count Chocula?

I agree wholeheartedly with your response, as I was screaming NO myself as I scrolled down the page to find your post. I just became a big fan of the original show this weekend when I caught a marathon on BBC America. While watching the show I actually said out loud, "if this were an American sitcom it would not work at all. It would have the best parts stripped from it to make it fit within standards and practices' narrow guidelines and would be as unfunny as most American sitcoms."

The comedy of "Spaced" doesn't lie in the premise, as the premise is pretty common sitcom fare. The comedy comes from the characters and the ridiculousness of the world they inhabit.

Count me out.

Maybe we could start a petition.

Why not just run the original series instead or making an American version?

I attended a Comic-Con Panel yesterday in which Edgar Wright himself said the American version of Spaced isn't going to happen anymore; so don't fret little ones.

May it please God and Luck and Fate and Chaos, that you are right.

Can you say, Red Dwarf american version...bet ya cant without cringing

reply

I think a rehash of redwarf would at least be watchable because the content and stories are so rich but redoing this little beauty is insane, the only reason this show is any good is simply because of the chemistry between everyone in it and there insane personalities which would be impossible to replicate with real actors reading lines written by a monkey. But whatever, i doubt it will be successful either way.

I'm American and I'd like to say. America...STOP RUINING GOOD FOREIGN THINGS!!

I'm a huge fan of British comedy and Japanese horror and America just ruins both of them! Plus the mere fact that it's Fox makes me cringe. They're horrible, they'll ruin this...I definitely wont be watching it, but I don't want the average Americans first experience with "Spaced" to be like this.

I like Sara Rue, I loved Less Than Perfect, but remaking it will totally ruin it. Spaced was (is) awesome and I'll treasure what it was; the way it was.

I here there is more chance of the Pope walking in to the room naked....and on fire than a remake of spaced being made. Apparently Pegg was in the states to talk about it but he admits things broke down.

probably good as I saw the pilot of the US version of red dwarf and it sucked ...

I'm drinking some wine, eating some cheese and catching some rays you know.
