I don't understand why this show isn't doing well.

I have yet to start watching the original from 1998, so I only know the 2009 version of Cupid.
And I love it.

I can understand why my favorite show "Buffy" doesn't appeal to everyone. I can even see Rob Thomas' "Veronica Mars" not being everyone's taste.
But every episode of "Cupid" is like a lovely heart-warming romantic comedy movie in short.
So I don't understand why it's doing so bad. I'm in Holland so I don't know the day or time-slot.
But even then, this is just the kind of show millions of people would love watching, right?

What's the problem?

Sorry, Kush. I can't read the other two posts. It's one of the trolls I blocked. So what's your general opinion about my first post?

Sorry, again: I can't read your posts. You're on my ignore list, whoever you are. Seems you're a IMDB stalker aswell.

I also loved the show. Got to watch some of the episodes from 1998 and I liked the female protagonist much more than Paula.

Haven't seen the old ones yet. I needed some time, but when I saw Sarah Paulson warm up on the dancefloor in episode 5 I really did like her.

I can't believe 95% of the best shows I end up loving always gets the boot.

Not always, I remember the 90's when american television programing wasnt centered on idiotic reality shows. ENOUGH WITH THE DANCE SHOWS!

kcuf you ABC

Cupid (2009) was gold. Great Writing, Acting, Plot, Dialog, Laughs and all!, it had everything going for it.

I also have yet to see the original but just started watching this. First 2 episodes were alright but just finished the 3rd one and I absolutely loved it! It was funny, sweet, smart and well written. I didn't think I'd like the guy playing Cupid but he's grown on me and is very charming.

Well, I'm happy to see how much this show is loved.
But I'm still waiting for a reply to my original post.

How is it possible the show got low ratings? This is something the huge mass would love to watch.
So why didn't they? I'm don't live in the USA, so I don't know when it was aired and if that would have any influence.

I don't know why the show never caught on. The 1998 version with Jeremy Piven as Trevor Hale was an even better version then this re-make...though I did enjoy the remake also. And the 1998 version never caught on either, and it was a huge critical darling. 'Entertainment Weekly' even listed it in the Top 10 Shows to Be Cancelled Before Their Time (or something like that). It all comes down to people having bad taste. Really crappy sit-coms with horrendous acting do well while superb comedies almost always die premature deaths (think Cupid, Arrested Development, etc). It has nothing to do with inadequacy of the show or story-line. It has EVERYTHING to do with bad taste. Smart comedies hardly ever do well, usually only dumb, brainless comedies tend to do well. The show was just too smart for people to get into, IMHO. Everyone I know who enjoyed this or the original run of the series were usually smart, well-spoken people.
