Big Aunt is a drunk

I saw the movie before but I just watched it again and this time I realized that all those green bottles she has the kids pile up against the wall (when she says "finish your chores & then I'll pay you") were booze bottles. It's the same thing she buys in the restaurant when she says she "needs a drink" and (supposedly) "hasn't had one in a long time." Just wondering what kinda alcohol it is, it's apparently clear.

soju

thanx! so...a clear grain alcohol similar to but sweeter than vodka? It says Soju is a Korean drink, though, and they're in Japan. Japanese import it, I guess?

reply

No...they're in Korea...

As others have said, it's Soju a dirt cheap booze, nasty stuff loved by older Koreans and young ones, too. Gives terrible hangovers and old Korean men reek of it most mornings but especially Mondays!
