evil, misogynist movie that paints all men as abusive.

No one a would ever be attracted to butlers character. He is a caricature. I refuse to believe that men are like that. This movie basically says" hey, american men are all bigots, sadists, abusive and evil."

Not to mention Abby is treated as an object, completely manipulated by Mike.. she changed her looks, even her personality to appeal to this other man (who apparently was dumb af because he never noticed her real personality, not once) and then ends up with the trash that Mike is. It's a really absurd movie which built its characters out of the stone of stereotypification and it's not even funny.

Butler's character was hurt in the past and became the way he was as a defense mechanism. He thought he believed all that crap he spewed, but the real ugly truth was he learned there was a woman he was willing to let his guard down around and be himself. As she got to know him, she realized he wasn't the person she thought he was, but rather a sensitive, flawed man who fell for the person she really was. He thought he was helping her catch the guy who met all the items on her checklist, but as he helped her he got to know the real person she was and he fell for the real person. It took her a little longer to realize she didn't want a man who met her checklist, but who really didn't want her to be herself.
