$80 million?!

this movie made 81 million bucks worldwide on a budget of something like $39 million. i had no idea it made money, i was under the impression that it was a huge bomb. of course it probably lost money with the advertising and all, but it's by no means the huge failure i had thought it was. that makes me happy, because it genuinely looks like an interesting, risky movie. (i mean come on, they really thought they'd make a mint off a claymation movie about a DOG...DYING...ALL IN BLACK AND WHITE??)

Not every movie is made with the idea that it will become a smash hit.. You always hope but some movies get made because the studio is willing to take a chance on a project if it has a strong director. Not costing a fortune always helps obviously as well.. For a huge company like Disney 39 mil is a very small investment..

Worldwide doesn't count as much as domestic sales. This movie deserved to earn no more than $5 so I guess it did do well.

Box office profit was very small, if any.
