Anyone noticed it's like Mama's Family?

I haven't seen the movie, just the play version that a friend lent me. It's funny in parts, mostly in what Madea says and does. It's very farcical and not to be taken seriously.

It really reminds me of the sitcom Mama's Family. Anyone else see the similarities?

I would say the play was like a two hour version of Mama's family, with endless songs and a lot of religious stuff. Not my cup of tea, but then again I didn't like Mama's Family, either.

I did notice the similarities, and i think its funny. i love both Madea and Mama. They also dress a tad alike too. they are both matriarchs with no bullsh!t attitudes who use humor to get through things.

"Dollhouse" is missed by millions of devoted fans. Suck it hard FOX.

I used to love watching Mama's Family; however, I don't think these movies are remotely similar to that.

You're right!!! It is very similar because of the crass humor and both are very "country". I mean, I can envision Mama waving her gun high in the air like Madea has done.

I miss 'Mama's Family' played early in the AM on TBS. Bring it back, TBS!!! WAAAAHHH!!
