Candace : Would a hooker really get upset?

I felt that the character of Candace is a little unrealistic, and didn't make me sympathize with the character at all. We are suppose to believe that Candace has been a hooker for a certain amount of years, hooking on the street and doing drugs for a living, yet she gets upset when a job interviewer ask her for sex in order to get the job?! WTF? She was a hooker, so what is one more screw for her? I mean it would get her the job. Hell she screwed guys for less than that. So I found it hard to feel sorry for the character.

The idea of getting a legitimate job is you don't have to do that anymore, and he was supposed to be a 'Christian' helper.

Yes, but she didn't have the job yet,and she had slept with guys for less than that . So why not sleep with one more guy in order to get a legitimate job ? I also sure that as a hooker she have ran across a lot of Christian guys who wanted hire her .

That's one of the things that's really wrong with this society. Because a woman has 'done something before' she's expected to do it again. The problem with this 'screw' over all the other 'screws' was that the other woman (forget her name), wanted to help her by getting this job for her. It is NEVER ACCEPTABLE to propose sex to a woman (or man) in order for that person to get a job. It's called sexual harassment. Just because she has done it before, does not mean that she must do it again, or that it's not a problem.

I never said it was o.k, for any women to be sexual harassment. However when you work in certain type of job (re: hooker) it comes with the territory . I just think it's unrealistic that a person who make her money selling her body for a living would not sleep with one more person to get something that she want. Especially if she has a drug problem, which was indicate in the movie.

It's very realistic if she truly wants to escape that line of "work," and if she wants to earn money the honest way.

Half of the prostitute who are rescued from the street , wound up back on the street in 6 month or less. So I think she would more than likely see the man request as a way o of getting the job she needs, so she do not have to work the street for a living anymore.

She didn't, though. And I don't see why you're making an issue out of it. Why can't you accept the fact that she rejected the man's advances?

I'm not. I just find that part of the plot line in the movie unrealistic, along with her disappearing drug addiction. I think the character would have been much more sympathetic if her character was much more believable.

So you know all the prostitutes in the world and know how they think, what they do, etc., to know she's not believable and that none of them would get an honest job on their own feet instead of their back?

I'm glad she kicked him in his balls, taught him a lesson.

They probably could have delved more into her drug addiction. As far as the interview went, I saw it as she was very reluctantly putting her trust in Josh again, by letting the minister woman help her. I forget the woman's name. Josh had saved her from her father and other things but wasn't there for her at that party, so she lost all trust. She didn't know if Josh knew what the other guys had planned.

Anyway, short story long, basically she was tentatively trying to get a legitimate job, and the interviewer basically said that if she wanted the job she would have to have sex with him and she was trying to get away from that. So it was just another slap in the face. I don't know if I'm being clear. Sorry if I'm not. I think she just expected better but she got the same treatment from him that she got on the street. I rambled. Sorry. :-)

Your right about her putting her trust in Josh again. However I do not think Josh was aware that his friends had planned to rape her. But then stuff like that made me wonder if these guys were really his friends at all?. But then again, why would anyone go to a party alone without any of other females there, and the only friend you have is not going to be there? I do not know any women who would do something like that. Young or old.

I get it , it just that it seem a little unrealistic. It's just like one last job. They might not like it, but if it helps their situation to get better, they are more then likely to do it. Plus, what happen to her drug addiction?? That just suddenly and without question/help went away? They should have at least explain that she is getting help for it.
