Budget?

Just watched BDD an d loved it. Some people may not get it but those in the know will love every minute. Now I read in Fangoria (or was it Rue Morgue) that this only cost $5000 to make and I'm having troulble belicing that. I guess my question for the makers is:

1-What was thereal budget
2- What kind of film stock did you shoot on
