Wonderland murders

As Heather watches the piece about Mubai on TV, there's a shot of a woman on the floor with a bloody head. That was a real photograph (or video still) of a real murdered woman from the John Holmes-connected Wonderland murders. Right?

I see at least one of the filmmakers comments on this board, so I'll ask you directly (and if anyone else knows, please chime in):

Did you do that on purpose?
Did you have to get permission?
What are the laws on using crime scene footage/photography posted on the Internet as part of a creative project?
