Recalls "The Parallax View"

Not simply in that it's the story of an unempathetic lead playing a writer out of his depth investigating a conspiracy so vast . . .
The Parallax View was built on the premise of a secret org that recruits assassins and the patsies who take the fall for them. It's more dramatic, and more bearable, than the actual fact that in America it's easy for a nut to get a gun and act out their psychosis.
The Ghostwriter is built on the premise that deep-revolving plots must be laid to subvert a British Prime Minister. It's more dramatic, and more bearable, than the actual fact that any pol can be subverted by appealing to his vanity and nascent megalomania. And that it's still vitally important to have Britain on your side, instead of somewhat pleasing.
