Yet later on the father leaves his kid alone in a car while he goes inside the barbershop looking for a place to stay and where to get work? I wanted to throw something at the television.

The Jon Hamm character's son was "Stolen" when he left the cafe while his father went to the bathroom. (2007 part of the story.)

The Josh Lucas' character's son was the one in the car. (1957 part of the story.)

Good thing you didn't throw anything at the TV. Now you can go back and check it out.
