Has anyone else ever noticed that Andrew never drinks alcohol? On the occasion that he's served liquor he just holds it. No judgement on my part, I just think it's curious.

In one of the episodes this season where he was in Africa and they served the banana beer he admitted that he doesn't drink alcohol "of any kind".

When I saw that he wouldn't have a sip of bannana beer while eating just about everything in the world; I knew he was a recovering alcoholic.

I noticed he usually does not drink on the show, but I didn't know he had a problem.
Wouldn't surprise me at all that he's a recovering addict. I guess food is his only vice now.

shareYes, Andrew has said he does not drink alcohol. For whatever reasons he does not drink I won't speculate why. That is his choice not to drink and actually he will be better off for it.

He has admitted that he is a recovering alcoholic/drug addict in at least one interview. Apparently he spent a year or so homeless and stealing from people to survive before he got sober. I would bet that he has made a commitment to stay sober, and that means saying no to the booze for the rest of his life.
