I was confused by something

Wasn't the mother cleaning the garage for a sale at her house? I guess it didn't make sense that she would have planned a sale at the tail end of the trial.

Another question...the first time they (Ashton and his girlfriend and the son) were hearing a verdict, I thought it was for his sister's killer, but it must have been for the murdered husband, right?

She didn't plan it, it was planned by the therapy group. I would think it would be hard to predict when a trial is going to come to an end. I'd imagine if she would of rather went to the trial she could of. I think she just used the garage sell as an excuse not to go, probably because she couldn't handle going to the trial.

she was cleaning the garage for a rummage sale for her support group. It was supposed to be an exercise in helping people to let go. You're right the guilty berdict was for Miocelle Pfeiffer's husband

The mom already was planning the rummage sale and the verdict was supposed to be finished the week before, but it got pushed back to the following week which just happened to be the week of the sale.

Thanks everyone for the replies. If memory serves, I missed the significance of the sale.

The other users are right. But I wanted to clarify that it wouldn't have been necessary to plan the sale on the same as the verdict. She obviously didn't want anything to do with the trial, so she could've just decided not to go. Actually, on the day of the planned verdict, WALTER asks her to go and she says she'll go to church instead.

Thank you for the further explanation.
