The problem is that a lot of their behavior is normal within that context. People on online games can be overly flirty, but that doesn't mean they're going to stalk you and come to your house. People should be more cautious, I agree, but a lot of people tune it out or play along instead.
Some people also like to roleplay as their characters. In the series, they picked character roles that basically match their real personalities, but you wouldn't automatically assume that to be the case. So just because someone acts like an evil rogue doesn't mean they're actually going to backstab you. Then again, they might just do it because they think it's the in-character thing to do even though that's not how they'd normally act in real life (or when playing another character).
Of course, it should be noted that in the case of Bladezz, everyone but Vork thought it was a bad idea to give him their guild bank, so they had a pretty good idea that it was his real personality that they were dealing with. The mistake they made was trusting in Vork to not go all naive paladin on them.
