Annoying music in the background

Why did the director think it would okay to play music in the background, even while they're talking. It's so freaking annoying. I'm not sure if it's through the whole movie, because after 15 minutes I couldn't take it anymore and I turned it off. Maybe I'll give it another try later. So disappointed. I've been waiting to see this movie for months now. :(

It didn't annoy me as much as you but it was noticeable and distracting.

I haven't seen this movie yet, but the problem you describe sounds like one of levels. Lots of movies have music under dialog.

well, amidst a serious discussion of gay cinema and AIDS, the happy upbeat song (with lyrics) was very distracting. just a poor choice from a poor editor or director.

And annoying amateurish acting in the foreground.
