shareThat is one opinion, but the measure of success is whether the movie or movies make money for the investors. If they don't make money, the investors are less willing to fund new movies, even with smaller amounts invested.
Some actors do "art projects" occasionally, possibly to try something new, possibly to work with specific other actors and a director, and possibly as a favor to someone involved with that project. But if an actor (or writer, or director) gets involved with "too many" projects that do not make money, look out.
Money is a terrible way to "keep score" in life, but it is certainly used that way.
