Without Ian McShane in it, I wouldn't be a fan
Don't get me wrong, it's a good show. I love the concept, but let's get real there is something regal and timeless about Ian McShane, and without him the show would kind of fall flat.
Cross is also cast perfectly, as is the Rev and the Queen, Brian Cox as the old king is a perfect choice as well. However, all of the younger actors don't quite have the chops for a show this ambitious. They lack emotion and sometimes sound like they are just reading the lines.
That said, I still think it is one of the best shows on TV and definitely one of the best concepts to come around in a while. I'm not religious, but I have read the Bible so I know the story, but even for people who don't, the show is still engaging. Jeez, the episode with the power outage and the scenes where the king is being hounded by death and a possible intruder were movie quality shots and acting.
I would love for the show to continue, but since the chances are slim I am looking at it like a good mini-series and I am glad they at least tried. If they do continue somehow, I hope Ian McShane is still in the cast. To lose him would be losing the heart and soul of the show (though I know some will disagree).
Anyhow let's enjoy this episode and hope it doesn't let us down.
