How excellent was this?

I don't think I've been so emotionally drawn in to a movie like this for a long while. All the characters were just so well done: nicely ambiguous so that (apart from Cole) their 'dark and light' side were there for all to view. I could imagine a group of friends seeing this and then arguing about it for the rest of the night.

Aiding the narrative with the club performances was enough to not be over the top (and reminded me of Hedwig) and avoided the typical song over montage cliche that is in most low buget movies today. I thought that overall the acting was well done (dialogue a bit loose in some areas) and the sex good.

And finally an Americal gay movie with none of the "they all lived happily ever after": a movie with meat, European style (is US gay cinema finally maturing?). I wonder if that is why it's rated so low here. This was an 8/10 for me, up there with Brokeback and CRAZY and a heap of European/Asian/Australian or South American gay titles.

I agree with qouth the raven also. It was an excellent movie. It helped me to watch it twice. I will definitely buy it.

I agree. It has substance, making you think and learn not to do that in your own life in the future. That's what tragedies are supposed to do, and why our high school teachers make us read and critique "Romeo and Juliet," and "Hamlet" for a well-rounded education.
