When they talked about this on I Love the New Millenium, one of the commentators said Disney seems to like the idea of killing off mothers. So I've made a list of Disney movies in which either 1. The mother is killed off at some point in time 2. The mother is never present at all and 3. Neither of the parents are present/were killed off:

Pocahantas
Finding Nemo
Aladdin
Snow White (not counting the Queen)
Beauty and the Beast
Bambi
The Sword in the Stone
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
The Fox and the Hound
The Great Mouse Detective
Chicken Little
The Little Mermaid
Tarzan
Lilo and Stitch
Pinocchio
The Jungle Book

Add anything I've left out.

Pirates of the Carribean. Elizabeth's mother isn't mentioned.
