Is this based on a comic or manga?

The movie was bad, parts of it were bad to being funny good, but overall it was bad. But I kept getting the impression it was based on some work, and kept thinking man this would make a good comic/manga/anime. I mean you have a wise cracking male lead Sorbo, what was supposed to be Oda Nobunga, vampires, and a bunch of women. So in sort does anyone know if this is a bad adaptation of something.
