Interesting cautionary tale of an untested xenophobia

We know well what humans can do to "strangers" within our own species so how we greet and treat odd looking extraterrestrials may not be any different. Solaris had perhaps a more disturbing message. Man is looking only for man in the cosmos and what it came across was something man is not prepared to ponder- a completely different type of sentient entity. The "prawns" in comparison were still a fairly similiar life form- one we couldn't resist wanting to dominate.
