This movie is a metaphor for Syrian refugees.

They are being treated the same as the aliens, derogatorily referred to as "prawns", despite the fact all they want is to be in their home, even though they can't go back there.

reply

This is so ridiculous. The time lines do not correspond.

reply

Timelines are off and they weren't talking about moving the prawns into other areas. Also, terrorists weren't trying to use the prawns to sneak into targeted countries.

So far as possible, most Arab migrant migrants will concentrate in ghetto/ banlieue, where they can live in parallel societies preserving their own ethnic identity, language and misogynist/ bigoted/ illiberal social-cultural values. There may be a little terrorism, predatory gang rape and organised crime, but the more important loss is that of civic openness, leitkultur and human liberty.

Some will assimilate (to varying extents) for material gain; the majority are content to live in the prosperity and security conferred by the German state while advancing their own anti-western community.

It's well advanced in Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, France and the UK (in the UK case, with ethnic Pakistanis rather than Arabs); we're beginning to see it in Germany.

If people are not going to integrate in European societies, then we would be better keeping them out of Europe (we can supply humanitarian relief to refugee camps build elsewhere). That a person is assessed as a refugee should not entitle them to asylum in their European state of choosing; admission to a European state, even for refugees, should always be conditional on the individual's capacity and eagerness to integrate

reply

What a thoughtful and reasonable post.

reply

No, it's not. It's a metaphor for South African Apartheid. Read your history.

This movie was made 7 years before the refugee crisis.

And Mariobtty:

Thank you. I was in Cologne square a month before the infamous New Years Eve chaos. It tore my heart up to read about it.

As an American, I fear the same thing happening here. We are allowed to own guns, and it is pretty easy to obtain them. The idea of roving bands of rapists or groups of men going around attacking women because they aren't covering themselves according to sharia law, makes me want to purchase and carry a pistol in my purse.

But what if the refugees get their hands on guns as well? I feel scared and angry.

And at the same time I hate this, because I don't want to vote for Trump AT ALL, and I know deep down that most of the refugees will not start trouble.

It's different here, though. Europe and the Middle East and Africa are considered different continents, but they are the same land mass, and it's physically possible to walk from anywhere in Africa to Europe. Not so with the US.

I hate how afraid I am. It's making me xenophobic and prejudiced, but I really am scared.

It's not a metaphor for Syrian refugees specifically, no. But this thread is trash. Terrorists are not trying to sneak in as refugees, there's zero evidence for that. And, no Breitbart, Fox News and Rush are not sources of reliable info.

Refugees failure to "integrate" is the majority society's fault, not theirs. You see terrorist attacks in Belgium and France because there is segregation and ghettos. they are purposely left out of society as a whole.

We (Canada) just took in 25,000+ Syrian refugees and have many programs in place to help them. It's not gd rocket science but the failed ideas of government sanctioned white supremacy are apparently too strong to give up.

"Terrorists are not trying to sneak in as refugees, there's zero evidence for that."

If you can't see how ushering in large amounts of refugees from heavily terrorist populated areas can be dangerous, you're being willfully dense.

"And, no Breitbart, Fox News and Rush are not sources of reliable info."

Of course not, because only sources with a liberal bias are reliable...

Nah. We're officially sick of lies by "conservative" media. Done. There is no liberal media, media companies are largely owned by billionaire libertarians. Fair media isn't perfect but buddy, if you think Fox, Breitbart and Rush are in anyway truthful you're an idiot. I'm so over pussy footing around you folks. *beep* off.
