I just watched this and I have to agree. I actually lol at some parts of the film. To some extent I did enjoy watching it but from a movie in general standpoint, over the top.

*****SPOILERS BELOW*****************

1.The music is supposed to assist the movie not over power it which in my opionion it did, it over emphasized how melodramatic it was.

2. Shi - guy with with the short hair...he has a fiancee and suddenly starts caring and falls in love with Yu. I thought it was cute the way he cared and took care of YU but...I'm supposed to buy and believe that?! That was just too fast. As shown in a video he had a gay tendency but still..he just met the guy and that guy was going to kill him in the begining...how the hell do you fall in love like that so suddenly...that is just too much.

3. The scene where they are both in bed separately about to sleep but finds themselves looking at each other...jeez they coulda been more subtle, I think that scene was a tad too long.

4. Yun 'hides' from Shi - so much angst...I feel like I was reading fanfiction which is all good but as a movie.

5. Then it's years laters he finally gets out and what happens of course he gets kill...jeez.

I'm sure there was more but now I can't think anymore..

Too bad for you- obviously you are not a romantic. i thought it was most believable that the normal guy falls hard for the assassin. look at this guys boring, nagging wife! I dont really think of it as a gay theme film; i think these two guys were desperate for something more in their lives and they found eachother. and the stuff about the younger brother being infected with HIV by his sick stepfather made me incredeibly sad, and i dont know how anybody could not be moved by that. If you think things like this dont happen every day then you dont live in reality. Places like Thailand are filled with desparation and poverty, and people who will do anything to survive. "Bangkok Love Story" is a throwback to the films of the 1940's melodramatic and powerful, and i loved it. also the cinematography is phenomenal!

Incredibly over the top. Is this the kind of story they like in Thailand? It starts out okay, but then it become so melodramatic and contrived. It was funny when the mother tried to hang herself,, funny when the gunman shoots her by mistake, funny when Cloud easily kills about a hundred of the scarface guy's bodyguards, funny when Stone turns out to be blind, and funny when at the last minute somebody shoots Cloud. This kind of plotting is impossible to take seriously. All these melodramatic cliches piling up and piling up and piling up.

First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win. Gandhi.

No. Try "Love of Siam" (2007), it won almost every award of Thailand film festival.

I didnt think any of it was funny. A woaman dying of Aids hanging herself? yeah, hilarious... i dont think the gunman shoots her by mistake... Itt becoming blind was symbolic of the sacrifices he made to save his friend and his friends family. and the reason Cloud gets shot outside of the prison? He still had the debt to pay, and the mafia whom he screwed over were simply waiting to take their shot. I thought it was very sad to think that this guy spent so much time waiting in prison, only to get shot as soon as he steps outside. This is realistic and has happened many time before. i think people should be taken into the fantasy of the film, instead of siting back and judging them. how sad for those who are unable to get into cinema.

Agreed... A little over the top... And this is the downfall of the movie. Some really beautiful cinematography, but not edited all to well.

it is too good to be true. i kind a smile at times instead of being sad because the story takes me into an unrealistic place - especially in the end where all good things piled up, it becomes uneasy to swallow.

the love scene on the rainy gloomy street is so scary i thought i am watching a horror-porno film (exagerrated me).

it would have been better if the brother plays the lead role of the assasin. he would have more chemistry with the other guy i guess. and i should say they even looked far better off when they were young - i cannot even see the resemblance.
