Censored for North American release!

IMdb lists the running time at 90 minutes. My German dvd is 110 minutes. I am wondering if the version we have in Europe is a longer cut... I have seen some of the scenes turn up as extras in the cut scene section. For instance they cut the scene where Itt bathes Meht with the sponge before they have an intense sexual encouinter together. It is a beautiful and important scene. also the stuff with Meht's little brother is some of the most powerful stuff in the film. All these scenes and more play within the German dvd. I'm just wondering from who has seen this american dvd, what has bee removed that can possibly equal 20 whole minutes??? these are key scenes and some of the best scenes in the film. At 110 minutes this is a very deep an involved story. I think cutting 20 minutes would destroy a beautiful film. The German dvd has no english subtitles but it is worth it for the whole movie, which is easy to follow without subtitiles anyway.
