Essence of Labyrinth?

Did anyone else feel that the Jared/Loren relationship paralleled the Jareth/Sarah relationship in Labyrinth? Just saying.....

reply

That's funny, since my fiancee was telling me that she thinks Peter Stebbings (Jared) looks alot like David Bowie, and I myself was able to see it too.

I could see that. And like Labyrinth, I was hoping they'd wind up together, instead of Loren and that idiot delivery boy.

Ya I also really wanted to see them end up together. The delivery boy just didn't have the same appeal as Jared (the same sort of appeal that Jareth had). I'm glad someone else sees the connection though!

This is so weird, but I was just looking up some info on Labyrinth...in particular the relationship of Sarah and Jareth when I got sidetracked and lucked upon this title.

I also found myself rooting for the werewolf and was seriously bummed out when she ended up with the dork delivery dude. At least in similar movies, like Labyrinth and Bram Stoker's Dracula, you saw the heroine feel the seductive pull of the lead character...with the whole audience understanding why. Here they had the girl almost immediately repulse, and I ended up looking at the screen with this "wtf" expression on my face. No way a real teenager on the cusp of sexual awareness is turning down dark and dreamy for that whiney twerp.

@ saprater: Oh thank God, I thought I was going mad with the whole Jareth/Sarah similarities. I loved 'Labyrinth', rooted for Jareth/Sarah, and honestly thought I was just projecting onto this movie because I disliked the delivery boy so much. It's also good to see I am not alone in rooting for the wolf man; I couldn't understand why she disliked him on sight when werewolves (and vampires) according to their mythology are alluring to human females - it made no sense and, like you, I watched with a 'huh?' look. I also don't understand Jared's fear of fire - fire is not usually a problem for werewolves, so that made no sense either.

Reading this back I think I really need to get out more and stop reading all those vampire/werewolf mythology/'history' books. lol.

As I watching it I thought, "Jared reminds me of Jareth." He definitely had a goblin king thing going on. He's so hot too.

Wow! I just watched Labyrith the other day, cause me & my sister where joking around about it. I orginaly caught this movie when they showed it like 2 weeks ago on SyFy. I caught the last 20 to 30 minutes, basically after the dog wolf scene. I liked what I seen and I had to buy it, so I got it from Ebay. I love this movie, I agree Labyrith/Fright Night awesome. This movie somewhat reminded me of Merdian, again romance with a beauty & beast theme, another good movie. I don't know why she chose who she did, thought the bad boy was the better choice. So I agree with all you fan girls & I wish they had a alternate ending on this movie.

Came here to say the same thing as the OP. She even has to fight Jared (or Jareth) to get here younger brother back... pretty similar. So yes, I believe it was intended if this many people see it...

Short for Original Post, you might see other members use it from time to time... could also be short for Original Poster, if you're referring to the member and not their post.

I thought exactly the same, especially when the line 'just give me my brother' was said!

Glad i'm not the only one who thought this :)
