Broken Lizard movies---rank 'em!!!

1) Beerfest - They could have tightened up the opening 30 minutes, which is sometimes funny but slow-going. Once the troop gets together the movie is unstoppably funny and entertaining.

2) Super Troopers - Like "Mallrats" and "Christmas Vacation" before it, it is one of those comedies I was not sure I liked at first, but it has grown on me in a big way. Meow, it's a little uneven, but when it hits, it hits that spot just right. Meow it's one of those movies I pop in every once in a while for a good laugh. Five years ago, it would have been at number 3....Meow.

3) Club Dread - It is a spot-on homage to 80's slasher flicks, right down to the tone, and I think the "tone" kills it for a lot of people. If you are not familiar or a fan of those past films, you are getting less than half of what there is to like about "Club Dread". That being said, I know it is not the funniest, but it is the most consistent Broken Lizard movie.

4) The Slammin' Salmon - Good comic performances prop up weak material. The laughs are scattered but the energy is there helping the film find its footing in its latter half. Michael Clarke Duncan is just awesome here, he needs to keep doing comedy, he's good at it.

5) Puddle Cruiser - Forgettable. I'd tell you what went wrong but I do not remember much about the movie. I can tell you I didn't hate it. What I remember is the dvd extra documentary revolving around their grassroots marketing being much more interesting than Puddle Cruiser. So I guess the doc really deserves the fifth spot, maybe even the fourth.

I agree completely. Club Dread was pretty off-pace, but I still call every Penelope I see "Peenaloap".

1. Super Troopers - Non-stop funny from beginning to end. I'll go out there and say it's one of the funniest comedies ever made, and very original. It's one of those movies that just comes outta know where and knocks you outta your socks.

2. Beerfest - This movie is a lot of fun, and I agree that it does take awhile to get going but once it does it doesn't stop.

3. The Dukes of Hazzard - I'm gonna count this one because they wrote and directed the movie. And while it strays a lot from the show, I like that they made it there own and didn't attempt to completely recreate the show. I saw this in theater and just couldn't stop laughing. It was exactly what I expected the Dukes to be like today. However, the film does suffer from many awkward and ridiculous moments and bad acting.

3. The Slammin' Salmon - It's ashame that this movie didn't get more publicity because it's actually really funny. I like the fact the Heffernan directs this time around does a great job. But without Michael Clark Duncan I think this movie would be last on my list. That and the fact that it's too similiar a movie to "Waiting."

4. Puddle Cruiser - Very forgettable and thats mainly because of the fact that it's a movie with no budget and something I coulda done with my friends. I still don't exactly remember what it's about or even remember if it was even funny.

5. Club Dread - This movie was a complete mess. Their attempt to combine comedy and horror was like mixing vinegar and water. I applaud the effort but it felt half-assed and ridiculous. It was kinda painful to watch.

I honestly cant rate these, since ive never seen Puddle Cruiser or Beerfest, but Club Dread, Super Troopers and The Slamming Salmon are all tied at a number one spot for me.
But if I really had to,
Club Dread
Slammin' Salmon
Super Troopers

But there all really really close.

1. Super Troopers- Classic... Up there with Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Spaceballs and other Mel Brooks classics in its wit. Also the second most quotable movie I've ever seen behind Anchorman. On my top ten favorite movies of all time and easily the best comedy.

2. Beerfest- Funny from beginning to end with great characters and a funny plot. A couple crazy plot twists that you don't see coming (especially with landfill lol) and a classic Broken Lizard ending.

3. Club Dread- Overall very funny film. The end is great and while the plot suffers, Broken Lizard does not thrive on good plots but goofy characters and dialogue.

Have not seen Puddle Cruiser or the Slammin Salmon so I cannot rank those but this is my list so far.

Oh and The Dukes of Hazzard was directed by Jay Chandreshakar or however you spell his name. Broken Lizard had nothing to do with this movie and Jay did not write but only directed so it can't be included on this list.

1) Super Troopers - This was an instant classic and one of the best quotable movies of all time. Can't go wrong with this one.

2) Club Dread - This is highly underrated. Great plot, great story, great performance, and a HOT brittney daniels. The ending drags on, I know thats the point, but this is some great comedy.

3) Beerfest - Cant go wrong here. The only reason I rank it below Club Dread is because some of the jokes were reused. Very good comedy once again though.

4) Slammin' Salmon - Had its parts but it was a little weak overall. Maybe my expectations going into it were too high. But it had a good intent, they just seemed to rush it maybe? Or maybe since Kevin directed for the first time the were a little off.

5) Puddle Cruiser - Saw this a long time ago so i dont really remember it. But i remember it having a few laughs and it was good for a first movie but there was nothing for me that stuck. Maybe another viewing will put it ahead of Salmon but i think my top three is pretty set.

So happy to see someone rank Club Dread in the top 3! I don't get why it's often the lowest ranked or next to it anyway. My husband and I find the humor in it hilarious (love that he says "Peenalope", Heffernan's character, and c'mon Bill Paxton!) and Brittany Daniels being scantily clad in an awesome state of fitness sure helps! I think people take it too seriously. Still have not seen Puddlecruiser but intend to.

Okay, just to throw some Club Dread love out there, I'll throw in my two cents:

1) Club Dread - Seriously...this movie is borderline brilliant. It works on so many levels. It's not a terrible straight horror movie, it's a hilarious comedy (Bill Paxton is amazing!), and it's a fantastic parody/homage. I'm not going to bash anyone for not liking it, as one of the earlier posters said, you kind of have to be immersed in 80's horror to get half the jokes. But I stand by it.

2) The rest of 'em. I know, it's a cop out, but I think the rest are all unevenly hilarious. Okay, knee jerk reaction I'll list 'em. 2) Slammin' Salmon 3) Super Troopers 4) Beerfest 5) Puddle Cruiser (The last 45 minutes of Puddle Cruiser are really great...but the first half is pretty slow.

1) Club Dread - Not much credit is given to Club Dread but the characters really make the movie and it's one of those movies I can watch over and over again, each time finding something new.

2) Super Troopers - no real reason to explain this one. Mainstream appeal and lots of laughs. I constantly find myself saying "littering and..." all the time.

3) Puddle Cruiser - It wasn't over-the-top, which is what I liked about it. Very simple and it had some great material. I agree that parts were forgettable, but the courtroom scene was classic.

4) The Slammin' Salmon - I actually watched it for the first time last night and at first I wasn't that impressed. Watched it again today and found it more enjoyable as I caught more things that I hadn't the first time. Perhaps it may move up on my list, but as of right now it sits at fourth. Great job by Michael Clark Duncan though. It did remind me of waiting and Nuts (on his meds) reminded me of Brick Tamland.

5) Beerfest - Why is this one last? No doubt I enjoyed it and found many of the scenes funny, but some of it seemed forced and over-the-top. It's great but still last on my list.

Peace.

1. The Slammin Salmon - can't believe it was so funny. Chicks were hot. I was already in love with Robin Sherbatsky. MCD was hilarous.

2. Super Troopers - Meow.

3. Club Dread - Love the genre.

4. Beer Fest - good but had more potential.

5. Puddle Duck - who knows? probably someone who saw it...

1. Supertroopers : Classic of a flick. It's still quoted a few years down the road, and one of their biggest movies(?). A cop buddy of mine does the "meow" routine with his partner late at night when they've pulled over kids that, "they're probably stoned but we can't do anything about it, so we screw around with them. Most of 'em don't know whether to laugh because they're so nervous."

2. Slammin' Salmon : A movie that my wife will sit and watch, & enjoy is great. Not all jokes worked, but that fits with almost every movie too. B+

3. Beerfest : I don't remember it too well, I think I enjoyed it though!

4. Club Dread : Not bad, but it was just forgettable so it's hard to rate it higher when I remember the rest of them so well.
