Why would you feel sorry for her? She was a psycho.

I would never have guessed that true romance and Detroit would ever go together.

reply

I wanted her to win to be honest, it would have made the film less predictable, I was hoping that he would get together with Shelby at the end.

But oh no, no risk taking.

Nothing without vinegar.

reply

I agree, that would have been hott.

reply

I loved the film as it was, but I agree that would have been a pleasantly refreshing ending . . . it's just that I don't mind something more cliched if it's done well, and I thought it was done extremely well here.

reply

That's because NO ONE WOULD WANT THEM TOGETHER, genuis. She was a selfish psycho who killed her mom. And there's no way he'd end up with her after what she did to Elizabeth.

reply

She was damaged, and everything she did, she did because she loved him.

reply

the movie is fine. not the worst movie i've seen. it would have been much better if they didn't go the obvious way but the writers took a tired plot and played it out once more.

reply

I fely sorry for mischa. If this is the sort of crap that she is reduced to making then her career is over as a serious actress.

reply

No hon, she did it because she was selfish. You don't murder your sick mom because you "love" someone.

reply

She opened her eyes at the end? I thought she dieddd

Anyway I felt bad for her too. Doesn't feel to good to love someone who doesn't love you back.

I'd call you a tool, but even they serve a purpose.

reply

I agree to it would have been unpredictable. But just because someone doesn't love you doesn't give you the right to act crazy like she did. I know someone who liked me and acted crazy not as badly as Shelby but you can't act like that either way lol.

reply

Exactly, Robert. I've felt bad for some villains, but not this selfish serial psycho. Not after knowing what she did to her mom.

reply

To be honest I hated all the characters, especially the guy, um who leaves there long term girlfriend while her mum is on her death bed? And I don't see why everyone liked him? Is playing football considered good in America?

I felt sorry for Shelby though, more so because she was desperate.

reply

Misha Barton was the only one you could feel bad for in this. He was such a jerk to her for no reason. He was so arrogant and smug like he was above her with his prissy girlfriend. His new gf had absolutely no depth and was just a casualty of Misha's love induced madness. I know she went over the edge but its not like being driven insane is a choice, to blame the patient for the disease is irresponsible in my opinion. As the saying goes All's fair in Love and War. Why love a douche whose 3'6 I'm not quite sure.

Plus you can see how her life had promise if he stayed with her and how it was going nowhere without him so I guess there is that whole aspect. Push a rat into a corner then don't be surprised it bites.

i felt bad for shelby\mischa too. OF COURSE SHE WENT CRAZY the guy she loved dident care about her

Now is Elizabeth's fault that her boyfriend's ex was completely insane? I agree that the guy was a jerk for leaving her like that (the film seems to imply that they didn't really worked out as a couple and would have broken up either way, though), but they were plenty of hints showing that Shelby was nuts BEFORE THE BREAKUP (the sick relationship with her mother, not to mention THE ACTUAL MURDER OF SAID MOTHER).

And I actually thought Elizabeth was way too good for the main guy. She managed to came across far more smart, friendly and considerate in her five minutes of screentime. Shelby and her ex were the ones acting like they were above everybody else, not her.

reply

If the boyfriend knew she had issues, he could've made an effort to convince her to seek counseling. However, I can picture someone as dense as his character not doing so. After all, what man would take his new girlfriend to an establishment owned or associated with his ex? Elizabeth should've known better as well. What were these people thinking?

reply

Although I agree with your comment about it being insensitive for him to bring his new girlfriend to his ex girlfriend's establishment, I think that blaming anyone but the person who committed the actions. Stating it's either Elizabeth or his fault for her kidnapping and torturing anyone is absolutely insane. It's the same logic of a lunatic that would have committed such a horrible, sick crime on another person. I truly feel that she was psychotic, no matter how or what her ex boyfriend had done or did during the film. As far as someone else's comments about Elizabeth's intelligence or the density of her character, I'm curious as to how you can come to that conclusion about a character who was unconscious, gagged or sneaking around quietly during most of this film? We knew the about her, aside from her being sensitive to Shelbys emotional hurt from the break up and her even trying to be friendly in order to ease the discomfort for her boyfriend. The poor girl was screwed from day one when she chose a man with a mentally insane girl for an ex.

reply

Oh sure, the guy who makes a mistake is less sympathetic than the witch who KILLED her mother? Psycho.
