Idiot is not the appropriate word she was just being nice and kind to strangers. There's no crime to that.
The crime is that Shelby turned into a total psychopath overnight and took advantage of Elizabeth's kindness.
I believe that Elizabeth could've been a little bit more smarter and safer but no crime there for being nice.
Elizabeth would've never been in this situation had it not been for little towns that have horrible hotel service or they are far from the next one. She should've been at Mike's parents house from the get go.
