The Dragons Look Better than Sci-Fi's Gryphon

I saw Gryphon with another Whedon actress Amber Benson. The people who produced that movie didn't put any effort into the special effects.

These dragons look better, like wide winged sting rays in the sky.

Of course John Rhys-Davies takes pretty much anything he can get especially B minus rated Sci Fi movies.

He was in The LOTR series. Why is he settling for this crap? He was too busy doing these movies to at least reprise his role as Sallah in the Indiana Jones film?

And Romania loves Hollywood. All those American $$$$ infused into the local economy, even with the value of the American dollar slightly dropping...

Well, let's be honest: the Gryphon was the cheapest piece of caca ever to hit a screen.

The dragons in Fire and Ice actually looked pretty darn good! You can still tell they're CGI, but it's really good CGI. Also a interesting take on their appearance, making them look like manta rays with either dry ice dust or fire and smoke coming off of them. Good work!

I think Davis is primarily a theater actor who does TV and film on occasion to pay the bills.

My three favorite bad examples are from the Sci-Fi Channel [Extremely] Original Movies:
"Minotaur" The monster was supposed to be half man and half bull. This one was all bull.
"Cyclops" The monster looked cartoonish. (The monster was also supposed to be Greek, but they moved him to Rome.
"Treasure of the Grand Canyon" The monster was supposed to be a winged serpent. It looked like a man in a rubber lizard-with-wings suit. (Also, none of the principles could pronounce "Quetzalcoatl" — and neither could the palest "natives" I've ever seen.)

All I can say to the writers, director(s) and producer(s) of those "Sy-Fy Channel [VERY] Original Movies" is:
I admire your ability to get paid for that.

Better than "Gryphon"? That bar can't be very high.
(I tried to watch it some time ago. Couldn't take 10 minutes of it.)
