The real actors in this movie -

The real actors in this movie are Tom Wilkinson and Paul Giamatti. Hands down.

As for the others, we've witnessed Julia Roberts re-enacting Julia Roberts and Clive Owen doing his Clive Owen impersonation.

This was an overly pompous film. I think I lost it somewhere between the 'Three months earlier' and the 'Seven days later' or whatchamaycallit.

I agree that the main characters and the actors were expected to be as they were once you saw the cast of the film. You fairly comfortably knew how the main characters were going to go along, and most of all, you know the style of these actors. So keeping what I know as the "sense of being critical of any movie you see, no matter how great reviews and no matter how great actors are with it", I also saw the greatness in this movie with the concept, dispise the overworked genre and the actors in this script, you wouldnt pay much attention to. You may be fairly flustered by the movie at times because of a pretty genious script, but when you get to see the movie again, you see the details and you see another picture of it, which I very much appreciate in movies in general. I rated 7/10, its intelligent and well done but not more than that, I enjoyed it.

I am watching this on HBO right now and I can understand what you mean but... this is an old-fashioned movie in that sense... about the star personas rather than the characters that the actors are playing.

I agree. Wilkinson and Giamatti at least have great scripts from which to work their craft, but someone forgot to do the same for Roberts and Owen. I'm only 1 hour and 5 minutes into this thing, but I had to come to IMDB to see what the fuss is all about. Not sure it's going to come to a "redeaming" conclusion.
