Wait, I'm Confused... Questions (Spoilers)

1. If they were working together, why did Claire make a scene, saying she refuses to be his partner?
2. How didn't Claire know he was her contact?
3. Why didn't he know where Claire was working undercover if they were dating?

reply

This all gets explained in one of the flash backs,I believe.
1- She made a scene because the two of them wanted to rest of the group to believe they hated each other/didn't know each other, or something along those lines. Probably so they wouldn't be suspicious of any alternative plans
2-She did know, but was playing the part mentioned in 1.
3-He knew exactly where she was working, and she got him the job.

Anything in the movie to make you think otherwise was all an act, to dupe their bosses and co-workers, etc.

I mean in the bar, where they were more or less alone.

reply

That whole conversation was recorded, so we can only assume they knew or guessed that they would be monitored during that conversation, so they were careful to keep up the guise.

Did he know the conversation was being recorded?

reply

He didn't know really, but they guess they are under surveillance.

I've just seen again the movie yesterday on TV, I have other questions...

What is the goal for the 1st company to make the 2d company believe they have the product?
The SEO says "it was as good as if we really have it", so they even don't have anything. Except make the others ridiculous, this is not useful.

And why Claire has to say Ray take another copy of the document?

Tully's goal all along was to humiliate Garcik's character. He played him (and our hero and heroine) like a fish

I think you hit on the main problem of the film. The characters are so duplicitous, so thoroughly deep undercover, that we the viewers never get to have that "a-ha" moment where the masks come down and their true motives are revealed. The real truth does eventually come out, but only after so many false leads that the "a-ha" moment to explain everything is overshadowed by "Wait... but what about the bar scene? What about Rome? What about... etc, etc." While it was an interesting experiment, it just went too far to keep the audience out of the loop.
