Why... [SPOILERS]

Why should I care if Wilkinson beats Giamatti? Maybe the film should have focused on those characters and their rivalry.

If you want a Rom Com Samba Di Amigo style, do that--chronologically please[or not, if you must, but sell it with depth of heart].

If it's going to be about two snotty old rich guys trying to one up each other, make it about that. You know, Goodfellas or the Godfather.

We don't have to like the personalities, but given the right combination of interesting and frightening they don't have to be likeable; the old farts, I mean, not a rom com couple. We DO have to like the romantic interests in a Rom Com.

Or reduce the number of characters: Tom and Paul are rich old farts in love who can't help but backstab each other all of the time. Avoid dark drama; but don't forget to have real heart while skewing to comedy.

I'm not Mr. Gilroy and I don't have his writing chops. He's a good writer and can produce work that I can't, but I believe he got caught up in concept and legerdemain. This seems a made to order movie, not a labor of love. Michael Clayton, I believe, WAS a labor of love.
