Waiting for ...

Unfurls (does it ever really unfurl?) like an unfunny Groundhog's Day (and Bill Murray has a part in this movie!). The contracted assassin waits, waits, waits ... doing tai chi exercises, repeating a ritualistic sequence of actions, always ordering two short expressos, digesting instructions, exchanging Le Boxeur boxes of matches with a succession of strangers who reiterate a code word greeting to him (Tilda Swinton one of the instruction-givers looking striking in spectacular white locks & outfit). Helicopters whirl overhead, enigmatic axioms about violins & guitars, & so on & so forth. Called on to explain how he penetrated a heavily fortified stronghold, the hired killer replies "I used my imagination" ... this seems to be Jarmusch's message too.
