Anti-Haters: Who Actually Enjoyed This Film

I just watched it and I have to say that I loved it. It was not your typical run of the mill heist film. It had twists, turns, and an interesting plot. Not to mention the cast was hot! The writing was pretty phenomenal as well. I don't know why people are hating on this movie and on the cast so much... HATERS!!!

I enjoyed it as well, the theater was packed, not a vacant seat that I could see. Everyone seemed to be pretty pleased with it, when it was over there was some applause which actually surprised me. There's always going to be haters. Let them hate.

Aww, come on...

The audience at my theater(which was mostly black BTW, I was one of the only whiet guys there) wasn't quite that big, though that's probably because I went to an earlier showing, anyways they seemed to enjoy it as well, there were alot of cheers and laughs during Chris Brown's big chase scene.

reply

Pretty small audience for the late viewing on Friday. I was at one point the only person there, but people came in in the middle of commercials and the first five minutes of the film.

I surprisingly liked it more than I thought I would. Matt Dillon was epic as usual, but when he gets shot after all he's been through and is forced to watch the last two guys get away, I was surprised that I felt really pissed. I'd gotten into the film so that I actually really disliked how it turned out simply because I'd wanted one character to succeed so much.

The dialogue sounded almost improvised at times, pretty realistic feeling especially with Dillon, Elba, Hernandez, and Walker. The camera could have moved a little slower to be honest, but overall a decent action/heist film. Certainly no level with "Heat", but it was entertaining.

Eh, I was personally rooting for the Takers to get away, and while Dillon did give a great performance, I didn' find his character very likeable after he put his own daughter's life at risk by chasing after the bad guys while she was in the car with him, which made it kinda hard to feel sorry for him at the end.

reply

In a way it's channeling the Vincent Hanna role. The guy who values catching the criminals more than anything. I didn't like that daughter scene either, but it's showing you how obsessed he is over catching these guys.

And btw, you ought to put spoiler tags over your message, scorpion.

I saw it yesterday and loved it! When I was walking out I heard other people talking about how good they thought it was. I am buying this one when it comes out on DVD.

liked it
some silly stuff like Chris Brown turning into the prince of persia...but even the dumb scenes were fun.

But with not much back story and Chris Brown's character obviously being a hotshot and young (allowing for some athleticism), I could buy that going Parkour on us was simply part of his longtime skill set.

yea: t.w.i.s.t.s and t.u.r.n.s... and the movie was anything but predictable. I would say u are the biggest liar ever if you said you knew exactly what was going to happen and who was going to die within the first 10/15mins of the film. Hell, the first 30

Who cares if someone was able to predict the order in which everyone was going to die, though I seriously doubt these people who claim that. It was cool to see a mixed cast movie where all the black people weren't the first to die.

Hmmm I really liked it, maybe because the music was pretty good.
The story it was ok, many things were predictable, but others weren't.
About twists I agree, I didn't see them here.

Spoiler:
Í really didn't expect the last scene where the band leader and Paul walker get away, I didn't understand why Matt Dillon didn't call for reinforcements though.

The movie made me remind of Heat (I know it's not as good as Heat but it kinda made me think about it). It was like watching it while the bad boys win.

I enjoyed the movie. The haters are parsing this picture down to its lowest common denominator and one can only imagine why. The movie wasn't meant to be The Godfather or Casino. Most people who attended the movie without any previous prejudices just wanted to see an action film showing some of their favorite stars. It is what it is and that's enough for me. I had a good time.

Did you go to an early showing or a late one? I went to the last showing Friday night and there wasn't an empty seat, and it was a fairly large theater.

Aww, come on...

reply

Yeah the theater was packed where I was also. I think some people really nitpick certain qualities about movies that they dont like (me being one of them, but not so extreme to bash the movie completely).

Chris Brown's character's acrobatic stunts in the movie made me laugh and such at how unrealistic it looked, but the chase scene had me too engaged to even care much.

Overall, I liked the movie and I was entertained.

go look up some videos on parkour. . .hardly "unrealistic" or "acrobatic stunts"

The action elements of the story were enjoyable but I would be hard pressed to convince anybody that the acting from TI was anything but horrible. Ok, I get it, he's a gangster, but he went way overboard.

I won't say that I called all the elements of the plot but I will say that it's easy to tell from even just the trailer that some people die. It's also easy to tell that the big "betrayal" is coming, it was painted pretty obviously.

So, overall, I didn't hate it but I also didn't love it. Action was good, pacing was good but the acting and the lame, lame ending ruined most of it for me.

I didn't see the other movies that the critics said this movie mirrors, so IMO the movie was fantastic.

I'm sorry, we all thought we knew who was going to do what, but we didn't expect certain things so we were all in agreement that this was a good movie and we are most likely going again this week with more friends to see it again. And purchase the DVD when it comes out!

Sometimes you want pure entertainment, and this didn't disappoint!

I enjoyed it, actually I thought it was a letter better than I expected it to be. OK, so the only reason I went is because I'll see anything Paul Walker is in. But for an action flick, not to mention PG-13, it was enjoyable. People are just hating because they have nothing better to do.
