who is the killer?

Who do you think is the killer? Deadline 9pm Monday 21 January.

I have three suspects.

The cult leader. IMO, a red herring. He's to obvious.

The cop's Palestinian girlfriend. I don't think it's her, just feels wrong.

The Public Defender. Whatever his name or title is. I think it's him. He knew the cop's past. And he's in a position to know the victims' sins.

Of course, it could be someone we never met, which would be a first for the Messiah series. Like someone in the cult's congregation.

Out of three you've suggested, I agree, the third guy seems the best option (not too obvious) - but then again, I've never been able to work out the killer in advance!

I don't know who I'd guess. I'm so rubbish at guessing who it is in programmes! I'll take a long shot and guess the guy who was due to give evidence against/for the girls dad.

I'm leaning towards it being someone we haven't met yet. But then again, in these things you can usually follow the 'Scooby Doo rule' -that the villain is someone you have met already.
I am wondering if it ties in to 'Peter' the detective lying in a coma in a hospital bed? (because if not, why have we seen so much of him in the plot?) But then that only really leaves his lawyer wife, and she said she wasn't religious. Plus serial killing is almost always a man's game.

Ultimately my money is on it being someone who hasn't been introduced yet. someone with a strong link to Marc Warren's character and his part (however unintentional) in the suicide bombing in Israel. Maybe revenge for someone who was killed or injured in the bombing? The sand comes from Israel, and the previews of tomorrows ep seems to suggest the Palestinian girlfirend turns up in the UK.
The whole bombing flashback is maybe more central to the plot than just to add interest to a new lead character by emphasising he already 'has blood on his hands'...
(Unless of course he isn't signed up for Messiah 6 and HE is really the killer, having murderous blackouts induced by the stress of the bombing?)

I prefer Imaginality to reality.

The way they protrayed him being nice to Mel(woman in Lost) it has to be him. I also agree with the "Scooby Doo" rule, we've seen the killer.

It's in the game!!

reply

I'm siding with the public defender guy as well. It can't be the cult leader because the preview showed him helping out the team at one point, telling them all about the rapture and armageddon and all that stuff.

Can't wait for the conclusion tonight!

Yup, Scooby Doo rule, especially when you consider the previous Messiahs - don't be too quick to discount the women, 2 of the earlier 4 programes had female killers :P

reply

Well, I guess I was right.

Spoilers for all the Messiah films, in case you haven't seen a previous film.

Why does the killer always have to die?

reply

I agree, it's a terribly Hollywood ending, because it destroys any chance of redemption.

Or a sequel...

True, but they said the bodies of the Muslim family had been posed at the table after being killed over by the wall. Carrying and lifting/posing an adult man's dead body would be a struggle for a lone man, probably almost too difficult for a woman, unless she was exceptionally strong.

I prefer Imaginality to reality.

reply

Well no surprise in the end. Pity.

It's in the game!!

reply

aw, I was hoping Joesph was going to stab him in the neck.

It was either him or the Mark.

In one of the Messiah, there is a tiny police woman who is the killer. She single handedly hung up a big man's body in a wire, she also hung two bodies together up in ropes. And she dug a large grave for a body, all by her self. Or was that the tiny, female doctor killer?

And, no, I do not use spoilers. Do not come to any Messiah board if you don't want to know!
