Is this really directed by George A. Romero? Or is it a marketing lie?

I love George A. Romero's first three Dead films and even like Land of the Dead and Diary of the Dead to a lesser degree.

But this film doesn't even seem like it's made by the same director. It seems like it was made by unenthusiastic college/high school students who were on a deadline.

Does anybody have any theories as to why this is so different (and definitely not in a good way) to his other films? Do you think it's possibly that this was actually directed by somebody else and they just agreed to attach George's name to the film to market it better?

I mean, I've seen directors go downhill, but nowhere near this extent. There has to be a logical explanation.

No one in their right mind would ride on a buggy driven by Klaus Kinski.

Anybody think the same?

Both Diary and Survival are indie films entirely written and directed by Romero. It's not a marketing ploy. I know it's insane to believe the progenitor of the genre could somehow produce such absolute garbage, but it is what it is. Even the greatest of minds can only go for so long before becoming creatively bankrupt.

At least we got one final, somewhat decent zombie film from him in Land of the Dead. Best to just dismiss these. I mean, rarely do directors not go downhill. Give the guy a break.

Yeah land was his last good one, I agree. They just got silly after that. I like that all his zombie flicks have some social commentary to them, but they have to be well made movies in general or it's just a waste. I also think he tried too hard to 'change with the times' rather than just keeping the style he had developed through the years.
