Keanu's 2 yrs older than Robin Wright Penn!

In the scene where Chris's mom catches them in his (twin) bed, (lol), I flinched a bit when the mom said "he's 35 yrs old!" I knew she meant that he's old enough to make his own choices, but felt there was an underlying dig of, "and you're so much older than he is." At least that's what's implied; Pippa has 2 grown children & though younger than her hubby, is presumably older than 35. But in reality she's younger than Keanu! I just found it a bit odd & it took me out of the movie a little bit, wondering who's really older. (He looks great for his age btw--so does she).

I just saw this film for the first time and when they made the age comment me and the person I was watching it with looked at each other and said "Isn't he like 50 years old?" We were off by a few years but we also were annoyed at the casting decision and thought that Wright was obviously younger. We do agree with you that he looks good for his age but personally I though this was a distracting casting decision.

Y'all got that right. He looks incredible for his age.

Wow i thought keanu is younger than her. Good to know.

I thought Pippa was supposed to be about 50. I didn't realize that Keanu Reeves was older than Penn. Wow. Where have the years gone?

They should maybe have cast a younger man, then, considering his age. But it IS acting. Actors often play characters much younger or older than the actors are.

I think they cast this one more on the strength of the way Keanu looks -- he certainly can pass for younger than his real age, and he can play a 35 year old. I would even go so far as to say he could be cast as a 30 year old and it wouldn't seem too unbelievable.

Robin Wright Penn, though a beautiful woman, has a mature look and can play 50 convincingly. This one is a case of someone looking naturally younger against someone who looks a little bit older than they are, and I had no problem with it.

Actors and actresses are cast as different ages than they are in real life frequently -- as long as they look the part it's not an issue.

Keanu is one of the worst actors of our time. It's embarrassing. The guy seems like he's not all there, and he doesn't even emote as actors do.

It always amuses me how people mix up an actor’s age with that of his or her character. It’s acting! Also, in this movie I think that Robin was made to look older than her real age (through make up, clothes, face close-ups) while the opposite was true of Keanu.
