Why did Hal murder/cripple those 3 out of work blue collar workers?

Wasn't the ring supposed to find someone noble?

So we can definitely agree that those 3 guys overreacted by assaulting Hal, but Hal was the reason they lost their jobs.

But instead of just taking a beating, he decides to use the ring to murder and cripple those three men.

reply

I highly doubt any of them died or were crippled. Being noble doesn't mean you can't stand up for yourself.

reply

Did you see the way that one guy went through that brick wall? With that force, if he ain't dead, he's crippled.

reply

I'm pretty sure Hal wasn't aware of the Power of the ring in that time.

And no one died.

reply

Yeah i agree, he clearly looked surprised after the outcome. He was picking up a pile of screws or a bucket to hit them with, he had no idea of the rings powers

reply

If you were paying attention, you would have saw he had no intention of using the ring on them. He didn't even realize the ring even wormed like that until after it happened. If you look closely, he was going to throw something at them. But the fist formed from the ring instead. Even if they were killed, it was not his intention, nor did he posess knowledge that the ring worked like that. Pay attention man.

reply

I'm pretty sure they weren't hurt badly. You have to remember Hal is not a boy scout himself, in the movie and the comics his character is heavily irresponsible and makes a lot of bad decisions, the ring helps him clean up his act and even then he is still quite reckless.

The bottom line is he didn't intentionally get them fired (contracts get nixed in the business world all the time) they roughed him up in an unfair 3 on 1 fight so he settled the score. He definitely seemed shocked after seeing what the ring did so I don't think he intended to use that much force but he clearly had the will inside him.

reply

And yet, you still forget. He didn't intentionally use the ring in that scene. That is why he has the shocked look on his face. He meant to throw something at them. Hal didn't understand how to use the ring at the time. He only spoke the oath. That's all he did before then.

reply

Because he is a creep.
From scene 1 where he wakes up in bed with a whore and bolts from the house telling her there's water in the tap I thought what a jerk.
You can't keep a good woman down.

reply

Ada_Lovelace; she didn't seem 2 mind.

reply

HandsomeBoyModel; legally (U.S.) he c/d've answered w/ lethal force. Which is more, the ring can't take life! Unless the Guardians remove this safety protocol.

reply

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

reply

I don't think anyone died. In the comics the ring is specifically designed not to enable lethal force. I would hope that would translate here as well.

reply

Who in the heck gives a darn what happens to the thugs?
