Yeah i agree, he clearly looked surprised after the outcome. He was picking up a pile of screws or a bucket to hit them with, he had no idea of the rings powers
If you were paying attention, you would have saw he had no intention of using the ring on them. He didn't even realize the ring even wormed like that until after it happened. If you look closely, he was going to throw something at them. But the fist formed from the ring instead. Even if they were killed, it was not his intention, nor did he posess knowledge that the ring worked like that. Pay attention man.
I'm pretty sure they weren't hurt badly. You have to remember Hal is not a boy scout himself, in the movie and the comics his character is heavily irresponsible and makes a lot of bad decisions, the ring helps him clean up his act and even then he is still quite reckless.
The bottom line is he didn't intentionally get them fired (contracts get nixed in the business world all the time) they roughed him up in an unfair 3 on 1 fight so he settled the score. He definitely seemed shocked after seeing what the ring did so I don't think he intended to use that much force but he clearly had the will inside him.
And yet, you still forget. He didn't intentionally use the ring in that scene. That is why he has the shocked look on his face. He meant to throw something at them. Hal didn't understand how to use the ring at the time. He only spoke the oath. That's all he did before then.
Because he is a creep. From scene 1 where he wakes up in bed with a whore and bolts from the house telling her there's water in the tap I thought what a jerk. You can't keep a good woman down.
HandsomeBoyModel; legally (U.S.) he c/d've answered w/ lethal force. Which is more, the ring can't take life! Unless the Guardians remove this safety protocol.
