Saw V Ending???

First off, Peter Strahm was probably one of the best hero characters in the series. Loved the ending, but I kind of wish they would of kept Strahm on a little longer. Saw VI didn't really have a hero character that was likable.

The ending was definitely intense the first time I Saw it. That Strahm/Hoffman fight was awesome. But I think it would of been a better idea to kill off someone else instead for the finale. I could see Peter Strahm being killed off in 7, but why'd they kill off a strong character like him? What did you think of the ending?

I just couldn't get over Hoffman assuming he could control the situation! How could he hope that Strahm would punch him and lock him in that glass case? He might have gotten knocked out, left on the floor, and officially arrested! Strahm blew it by putting Hoffman in that case; costing him his life and future victims later!

Agreed. How the hell could Hoffman even assume Strahm would punch him and thrown him in that trap? Anything else could have happened. lol.

Anyway, why would Strahm try to kill or even hurt his suspect number one? I can only imagine that he already knew Hoffman was the one who tried to kill him in the first trap ( water box ), so Hoffman predicted that Strahm wouldn't simply try to arrest him.

In fact, it seems Hoffman knew Strahm was quite angry and not thinking according to the law. The whole scene is played for laughs. Strahm tries to surprise Hoffman, by coming behind. Hoffman obviously knows that and tries to troll him, by forcing and faking a possible victim scenario ( pretending to be a victim inside of the glass box ).

I think while that's happening, they flash back to Jigsaw saying something like "If you trust human instinct, you'll leave nothing to chance". I guess he knew Strahm well enough to know that his instinct would be to lock Hoffman in the casket instead. A stretch? Sure. But I've seen less probable things in horror movies for sure.

What I've got in my head you can't buy, steal, or borrow. I believe in live and let live.

I agree with OutForAWalkB-tch. I believe the idea was that Hoffman predicted that Strahm wouldn't get inside the box. Strahm only just survived the water box, so looking at this coffin-type box with tubes connected to some gas cannisters, in his mind why the hell would he voluntarily get inside another potential death trap regardless of what the tape says.
As an audience, we have learned that Jigsaw is rather literal and pretty much tells you what to do - "Don't proceed", "Fight your instincts", etc, but for the people who experience these traps/games for the first time wouldn't know that.
But if Strahm had gotten into the box he would have found the path leading straight to Hoffman's lair then ta-daa, Hoffman would have totally given himself away.
