SAW V... Didnt see that coming...

There is a lot of hate for Saw V, i quite liked it tbh.

I loved the twist, that the five, who had been progressing through a series of trap rooms - from the decapitation room, then the explosion room, then the bath-room, and finally the teamwork room - had made the mistake of assuming that each room required a sacrifice, only to realise to late that they were all meant to work together and everyone could have survived.

As a viewer, we also made the assumption that each room would mean death for at least one of our five, but we were wrong - the decapitation room could have been cheated by using the same key for all five locks, the explosion room safety chutes were large enough for more than one person, the bath-room could have been beaten by each person holding one cable each and suffering a small shock, and the final room - where Britt realised what the game was, and how they could have all survived - could have had each person deposit a small ammount of just two litres of blood and survive - only for the surviving two to attempt to deposit five litres each, and barely survive.

Its my favourite scene when Britt monologues her realisation.

The problem with the the entire film however, is that it hangs on the assumption that the audience WILL think that a sacrifice is required in each film.

But to many people it was obvious that this wasn't the case. The film was ruined for me because I kept thinking why is someone dying.

I'm glad you could enjoy it but unfortunately many of us didn't get the same enjoyment

^^This right here is exactly it. The film thinks it's a great twist but the vast majority of the audience already had it figured out by then. The film also focused too much on Hoffman and the other police, when it should have been on the group playing the game. I agree a good saw movie needs both, but this was too heavy on one side vs the other. This is probably one of the weaker saw movies, along with 6.

After Saw II I realized that SAW is about doing the obvious and following the rules. When Jigsaw said that they should do the opposite of their natural instincts I knew they were supposed to work together. The first trap made that point clear. One could have gotten the key and passed it around.

In the first room it wouldn't have mattered if one key fits all. They all still had time to get out. The pulleys were all connected, only one person could go forward at a time. The blonde that died would have survived if Mallick had walked back to the others when he reached his key. That's what annoyed me the most about the whole thing lol.
