Favorite movie of the 3?

I've not seen any of this franchise but love the books. As the 'other' one doesn't have the two movies yet, I wondered what was you guys favorite movie of the 3?

I too like the first movie by far the best of the three.

It's hard to not put the first at the top of the list. It's a mystery movie and introduces a great character in Lisbeth. It narrows down a lot of the book (I shudder to think what a faithful adaptation of the book would look like - Larsson was not exactly Brad Thor when it comes to writing styles).

Apparently Larsson brought one book to his editor and the three books came out of the one big manuscript. I've always looked at the second and third books and movies as one long story since Hornet's Nest picks up where Fire left off. And while I enjoy them all the first is always a little higher on my scale.

I also favor the Swedish version of Tattoo over the American because it has the obvious feel of actually being shot in Sweden with some gorgeous scenes of the Swedish countryside. While Rooney and Craig are okay, the American version seems so dark and enclosed.

We watched the 3 Swedish movies in the shortened versions some 4 or 5 years ago, then the Daniel Craig remake. We like all 4 movies.
Since July I'm reading the three books by Larsson (and am very sad that he died so young, because he had enough ideas for 7 more books on Salander) and finished the 3rd book this morning.
Such an incredibly good read! I certainly will re-read them again.

Two months ago we discovered the full length Swedish TV version with all 3 movies plus bonus on 4 DVD's and ordered and watched it - absolutely stunning!
Also we love to watch bonus features in general and this comes with several hours of bonus on an extra disc. A must for every Millennium trilogy fan and movie buff!

I think the first movie is my favorite, even though it slightly reminds me of the novel "A Place of Execution" by Val McDermid (and Stieg Larsson even lets Mikael Blomkvist read a Val McDermid crime thriller in one of the first two books, so that's maybe where he got inspired when he invented Harriet Vanger?).

But I also love the 2nd and 3rd movie, each in his own suspenseful way.
The soundtrack is gorgeous! The plots, the actors, the filming locations and cinematography are just plain wonderful. It doesn't get any better than this!
10 stars.
