Bible stuff?

I understand that gottfried used scripture as part of his killing ritual and criteria. I understand that Harriet researched religion as a way to understand what her father had talked about. But i'm confused on why the book and show made a deal about catholic vs protestant. I remember something about mikhael meeting a priest who talks about harriot, and then the apocryhpa and such. What did that have to do with leviticus verses from the cannonized bible.

I just got done reading the book earlier today. It seemed like the subject of the Apocrypha came up as a side note. Or at least to me it did. I seem to remember that Harriet seemed to have a passing interest in some small religious group that was seen as a cult, and that they were big on the Apocrypha. And that was being considered as a possibility as to how/why she disappeared. That's just what I got out of it.

what i don't understand is where gottfried got the bible as his inspiration. Some people say his nazi background and that his victim's name swere jewish, but i remember one of the victims was a pastor's daughter, clearly not jewish. the vanyars were not really religious, so I don't know why the bible would be a trigger other than stieg's way of showing how religion oppresses women. however, i don't remember any explanation as to why he was a child molesting psycho, and how could he have got married and had kids if he would have clearly killed his wife. Did larson even know? lol

Well, just from what I learned in history class, the Nazi's tried to make a religion of their own and were actively trying to rid the world (as it were) of other religions. Especially ones that didn't agree with their beliefs. Maybe that could explain why he went after the pastor's daughter. But, of course now, we'll never know for sure. And I don't think any explanation was given as to why he was a child molesting psycho either, other than that he was described as a horrible person. And I got the impression that his wife was not a good person either. Cause wasn't he married to Isabella? I don't think she did anyone harm, but I think she was the type of person who tried to deny everything whenever something bad would happen. Which that makes me think that she had issues of her own.

She knew about the molestation, but didn't care. I just wish martin had killed her afterward. Given how she talks to him or must have, given the impression I saw in the american movie, i'd think that he'd have killed her. I hate it when mothers like this don't get any comeuppance in films like this.

I think one of the victims was Jewish and targeted for that reason. But he wasn't killing only Jews. He was killing women who violated his morals in various ways. One of them, for example, was promiscuous. I think most of the offenses were sexually related in some way, which is in keeping with Larsen's larger themes about sexual related violence against women.

Unless Alpert's covered in bacon grease, I don't think Hugo can track anything.

Well the bible canon is different in the Protestant bible than the Catholic bible. The Catholic bible has more books.
