Just bought the DVD...
...and I was in shock on how powerful and personal the concert was. Though I am a big Pink Floyd fan, I was never a big fan of Gilmour's and Water's solo projects.
Even David's last solo album, 'On an Island', which is not bad but not very exciting, came alive on this DVD. It was beautiful (no other word) to listen to as he played the complete album live. I was expecting to start fast forwrding to the 'good stuff', but I let the whole 2 1/2 hours play out.
Crosby and Nash harmonizing on 'Shine On...' and 'Find the Cost of Freedom' with Gilmour brought out goose bumps and David Bowie on 'Arnold Layne' and 'Comfortably Numb' was stunning.
'Echoes'!!!!!.....they played 'Echoes'...that's all I can say....you have to watch and listen to even understand the experience behind watching them play....'ECHOES'...
The personal feel from Gilmour and the band as they crafted each of the songs, as in NOT watching a Pink Floyd concert with some solo songs included, but watching an up-close and personal introspective/retrospective performace that had the feel of everyone PLAYING the songs as they were meant to be felt as opposed to a 'note-by-note' renditions of the same old songs.
I was disappointed with Gilmour's last live DVD...'David Gilmour in Concert'; but 'Remember The Night' is up there with 'PULSE' and Water's 'In The Flesh'; but stands alone on it's own merit.
Watch it on a Widescreen TV with 5.1 surround sound...and be amazed....
