This film is garbage

Garbage is maybe a little harsh, but it's borderline terrible.
I'll give the story some credit. It did spark a bit of emotion, a gambling emotion of winning and losing, but that just made me feel uncomfortable.

That said Rebecca Hall was wooden/flat/bad whatever you want to call it. The element that for me made it cheap and tacky was the way the money was handled. People not caring about 40k here and 70k there, sacking someone from a job and throwing 5k at them. yeah right, and what the hell was she even doing.
Hall came across is a very childish naive character, and I didn't believe the relationship problems. CZJ character was pointless too.

Willis pulled this back from the brink for me, he was great.

That's for sure...

This movie is a waste of everyone's time (writers, actors, viewers).

I agree. I just don't get how some studio executives thought there was a good story in which to invest (throw away) $27 million dollars. Ugh.

It was a total dog.

Its not harsh at all.
This was just a waste of time.
I found it on Netflix and thought.."how bad could it be...".

Wasted time that I can never get back.

Everything about this movie sucked.
End of story!

Handling the money as if it's just paper is not that unusual I suspect but:

1) They're betting on heaps of games and lots of races - there wouldn't be time to watch the game or race itself. And if you bet on that many races/games I don't think you'd be getting that excited over one result.

2) To bet as big as they were in Vegas they'd need a bankroll of tens of millions.

3) They wouldn't be deciding what to bet at a whim - they'd have some computer spitting out bets.

4) The bookie in New York was extremely unrealistic. Taking bets and just remembering them in his head. To make money he'd be taking hundreds, thousands of bets a race.

I know it's just a film but does Hollywood have to make everything that unrealistic?

Why would Hall waste her time making this film? Does she need money?
