in the book trixie wasn't raped

in my opinion anyway. she never actually put up a fight and said no.
she had been asking for it the entire night.

whereas in the movie, she said no and he continued.
i didn't like how they changed that.

i also hated how they didn't go to alaska. i thought that was a big part of the book and they had been leading up to it the entire time.
i liked the scene with her and willie.

hm.
i didn't like the acting of the guy who played daniel, but trixie and laura were good.
i didn't like jason much either...i saw him too much as peter from degrassi. lol.

but i thought the movie was pretty good. :]

"in my opinion anyway. she never actually put up a fight and said no."

-This was a big part of the book, it was really the only part of the conversation in the book between Daniel and Trixie's re-union that they went into full detail with. She put up a lot of fight, just never said no. It's one of the discussions we had in my book club.

From the book: "Why, then didn't a shake of the head, or a hand pushing hard against a chest speak just as loudly? Why did you have to actually say the word no for it to be rape?"
However, Jason just simply took this as playing hard to get.

For God's sake, FIGHTING is stronger than saying no. Some guys..

I know it's late to be responding to this, but Trixie had been drugged; that came out in the book. She had ketamine in her blood when it was tested.

Cheers,

If you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning

reply

she took the drug herself

reply

You know, I think you're right about that. It's been a while since I read the book.

reply

I have read the book twice, and although it is hard to interpret whether or not Trixie was in fact raped, SHE WAS! She was under the influence of drugs and therefore, couldn't properly give consent. Read the book again!!!

reply

couldn't properly give consent

But her rapist did drugs as well and if she can't give consent because of using drugs he can't be reponsible because of using drugs.

See how retarded that sounds?

With one sentence you put the blame on rape victims while trying the opposite.
