I know this forum is basically dead but I thought I would post in here anyway. I just finished watching Bokurano and I have to say it was extremely sad.
Just wondering who you guys felt had the most tragic death. For me personally it was Chizuru. Getting seduced and tricked by her teacher only to find out she was being used and he was also involved with her older sister was so sad. And the fact that she was pregnant just made it all the more depressing =[

Definitely very sad and intentionally so, though the Manga really pushes the envelope even further. I mean ... heck, what a sick fate Ushiro has to suffer in the original?!
As for the series: I would also go with Chizuru. Definitely had experienced just one downer after the other in her life.
It might have taken me 7 years to reply to your post, but I am now just watching it and cannot remember a movie, show or play that has torn at my heartstrings as much as this series!!! I'm compelled to watch one episode after another, even though I am exhausted more and more by the end of each one. And I think you really hit the nail on the head when you wrote about Chizuru's death. Really tragic!
This series will stay with me for a long time!
