A Christian movie absolutely can be a good movie. Unless, of course, it will try to proselytise in favour of Christianity so awkwardly, openly, desperately and badly that you can see it and feel it with all your guts.
The subtitle "A modern Christian Epic" did not deter me a smallest bit. I actually hoped for something with the Ten Egyptian Plagues, Devil incarnate or Mayans resurrected and appearing to be the pre-Christian. All the way go for it.
But the Mrs Reed ("Mother") character talking belief and looking like she were out of a lunatic asylum... The "OMG I don't know WTF is that but I KNOW it's happening" - did not go well with me.
Reality is, the director is piggybacking on Christian theme here, and not very masterly.
(Remember The Exorcist? Tell me it's not a Christian movie. Love it.)
