Just watching season one, yeah Michael got heavier through the course of four years. And I'm talking quite a lot heavier, like somewhere just above 20 pounds (9 kg) but possibly even more. It's hard to decide by just looking, but he's gained A LOT, and none of it muscles.

First season:

Right after 4th season:

He's 6'1", so I'm guessing the first season picture he's about 155-170 pounds (70-77 kg), but in the second picture he's clearly heavier than 180 pounds (82 kg) put probably closer to 200 pounds than 180 (alas 86+ kg, 190+ pounds).

Another one who's become heavier through the course of the series is Amaury Nolasco, Fernando Sucre. But the reaaally big difference is that he's went from being quite thin to really muscular. He's gained nothing but muscles and even trimmed down his body fat. While Wentworth has gone the complete opposite direction, from trimmed down and good-looking body to very, very ordinary looking, not "fat" but really just as most guys in his age (38 years TOMORROW!).

yeah he definitely got heavier. i noticed that too! ud think with all the running he did he would have stayed in better shape!

I really could care less if he gained weight or not but I rewatched season one after I finished Prison Break and he definitely looks healthier in the last seasons.
It feels like he was really thin at the beginning.
To me he looks a lot younger when he's skinny than he does when he's got a little more. He looks more mature - which he was in the end.
