something to consider, left wide open

--WARNING-- THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS TO THE SHOW AND MOVIE!!!

Well, as all avid Prison Break fans have witnessed, unless you physically see a person getting shot through the head (even the chest doesn't count, i.e. Mahone) or dead in their coffin (Bellick), there is a chance that they are still alive. I figured, and I'm sure many of you did too, that they would bring Kellerman back into this at some point; we never saw him die. I wasn't expecting C-Note; I never thought he was that strong of a character. But when I heard the name "Paul", all I could think was, "oh god!" And then when he actually showed on screen, I was screaming "I KNEW it!!! I KNEW it!!!" Not completely surprised, just "HA!!" I'm sure many of you had that same reaction... By season 4, I had already figured out as soon as they didn't show Wyatt kill Gretchen that she was still alive. Heck, we even saw Sara, her face white as a sheet, drool running down, and we all thought she overdosed. Then later we get to see her head in a box, and she's still alive and kicking. This show has always made a big point in actually showing the person die. We saw C-Note attempt suicide, but hey, the guard saved him. So what I'm getting at is, in this movie we never see Michael dead. I think it was rather odd that the show broke with its consistencies of actually showing the person's body. Yes, we THINK he's dead, and yes, in "Killing Your Number" we see his tombstone, but Christina Scofield was "dead" for how many years? And if Michael was elctrocuted/burned/charred/blown up/whatever, it could very possibly have been a closed casket funeral, if anyone important was even around for it--they were fleeing for their freedom. So, this show/movie leaves itself open to bring Michael back.

Think about this: the General was a smart man. Their technology saved Christina how many years earlier, and technology is always advancing. But they couldn't save Michael??? Scenario: The General could have ordered his doctors to make a temporary fix on Michael's brain. If Lincoln failed to retrieve Scylla, Michael would die anyway, but if Michael joined the Company, he'd get another operation, this time a permanent fix.

SO... What if Michael was only injured in the women's prison? What if the advanced medicine in Scylla was able to save him?...again. Kellerman could have been watching in the wings and used his influences to have the docs fix him up...again. If the feds were smart, they would fake Michael's death, naturally to ensure that Lincoln would not dutifully attempt ANOTHER prison break, Sara and Lincoln are none the wiser, and it's just a matter of time until Michael gets out of the hole and figures out an escape. Another point of fact, in the show, why 4 years later? Is that significant, or is that just a nice round number? This show is for the most part flawless, EVERYTHING means something. Was Michael in solitary for 4 years? Was he getting treatments that lasted for 4 years? Maybe that combined with him planning his escape. Get a few new inmates that desperately want out of prison, and you've got another season. Or movie. Of course, this could just be my overactive imagination, because I really hate that they killed off Michael, but seriously, this show left itself wide open if you really think about it.

i was thinking surprise the fans with another movie at least. if they hadnt made this movie, i would have thought he was dead from the brain tumor, had a nice funeral, etc, but just the way they killed him off makes me think he's still alive. the writers do everything for a reason-theyre very precise.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

He's dead. Anything else would be contrived.
Sarah only came back because they resolved her contractual issues.

It's a great show and I love it how it is.

reply

they "killed" off sara because sarah wayne-callies was pregnant. If they hadn't made the movie, I'd be convinced he's dead. But the way they killed him off left way too many doors open.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

well it doesn't matter the series is over...

and why would the General want to help Michael now anyway??

reply

first of all the general got a death sentence but since scylla got turned over to the proper people, then they would have all that medical info. im not saying they are definitely going to keep this going, but they left it open so that if they wanted to they could.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

the series is over though...

i mean it was cancelled for a reason, so don't see it coming back...

reply

i totally understand that, but the movie gave me absolutely no sense of closure. maybe they ended it like that cuz they didn't want all the fans thinking Michael died a slow horrid death from his tumor, but still, they never showed his body. and that, to me, means there is a very good possibility he is still alive.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

well they werne't gonna show his body being fried... during or after wouldn't be pretty at all...

and i think the medical note he gave Sarah about the tumor i think that confirms the death... i mean he would die either way...

no reason to think he would be cured even if he didn't die at the prison...

reply

=) we always assumed his mother only had 1 surgery, who's to know maybe she had more than that. at 1 point in the season she even says something about "after the surgery you can think so much more clearly" or something like that, so we all think its just 1 surgery. could have been more, who knows? i understand ur point but i still don't have a sense of closure. they could leave it the way it is, but they left it open in such a way that they could bring it back if they really wanted to.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

what do u mean 1 surgery?? isn't the mom dead??

i doubt they'll bring the show back... i mean they cancelled it since the ratings dropped big time...

reply

yeah the mom died cuz Sara killed her. Christina had a surgery that was very similar to Michael's because they both had a brain tumor... but no where in the show do they say she only ever had 1 surgery. Maybe she needed multiple surgeries to completely remove the tumor.

yeah and the ratings dropped i think cuz the show lost its edge; it became way too predictable. and it kind of lost the whole "break out of prison" theme. but u never know, if they decide Michael's not dead and he's just sitting in some prison some where, maybe they'll have another season with him escaping again... or maybe at least a movie. u never know

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

how do you know she was completely healed even?

even if Michael survived he's dying...

i think it was just a concept that couldn't last that long... i mean they broke out of 2 prisons... and i guess a 3rd if you count the movie...

it just got repetitive...

reply

yes it did! and so predictable!! but i still love it!!

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

it was good but i thought it lasted just the right amount of time... better to leave a little early then way too late, ER comes to mind...

reply

lol i got bored with er after like the 2nd season. im just rather interested to know why they chose to kill him off this way; was it because they didn't want the fans thinking he died a slow horrid death, or was it because they might eventually do something with it again? everything had a purpose in this show, i just want to know the reason behind this. =)

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

the reason is he died as a hero sacrificing himself...

rather than die a slow death for no reason at all...

reply

yeah that could be right. all i know is that it was really sad when i saw the last episode, and the movie kind of actually cheered me up a little, just because there might be a slight chance he's still alive. u never know. so there will always be a "what if" in the back of my head. lol.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

well i think this is less sad since he died a hero, rather than thinking he died a slow painful death...

reply

yeah definitely less sad!!! at least he didnt suffer at all, and he finally achieved his goal: to save his loved ones.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

yup...

where is your signature from??

reply

The Mummy. lol. thought it was hilarious when i first saw it. ive been thinking about changing it though. Getting to be time for something different. =)

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

i never even watched the Mummy before...

reply

It was pretty funny. The first one was the best; the Mummy Returns was alright, but it's probaly my least favorite. The Scorpion King was good. You should watch them sometime. =)

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

which one had Kelly Hu in it? i'd watch one of them just for her...

i'm not a Brendan Fraser fan at all though..

reply

Kelly Hu was in The Scorpion King. You'd probably like that one; Brendan Fraser isn't in it. =)

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

was that a good movie though??

reply

yeah i thought it was pretty good. it had a lot of action in it. it was funny and very entertaining!!

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

is there nudity?

reply

not that i can remember. its rated pg13 so i doubt it. if there is any its probably very minimal.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

was hoping to see more of Kelly Hu... has she ever done nudity?

reply

i have no idea, im not really into female nudity... male nudity on the other hand, im all for that!!

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

are you a girl? or are you not into girls??

reply

im a girl. =)

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

oh ok good that makes more sense...

but u like girls too?

so what parts do women like on guys??

reply

um no i only like guys... and i like all their parts. i really can't speak for all females.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

yea but what parts especially do you like??

it's not like i know you so you don't have to be embarrassed, and as a guy it would be good to know...

reply

yeah sorry buddy but this is a public posting...

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

PM me then... how old are you?

i like POTC and LOTR too...

reply

yeah those were really good. i cant wait to see if they actually do the hobbit.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

i thought they did the hobbit, but not with that cast...

reply

well there have been hobbit movies in the past, but none by Peter Jackson, the man behind The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Hobbit is projected to come to theatres December 2011, and from what I've heard, some of the actors from LOTR will make an appearance in it. It's all up in the air right now, I havent heard anything for certain yet.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

that sounds cool.. so Jackson is doing the new movie??

reply

well as of right now peter jackson is writing the screenplay along with Philippa Boyens, and Guillermo del Toro is directing it. we'll have to wait and see. i dont know if peter jackson is going to want to be more involved or not.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

is Guillermo related to Benicio??

reply

no there's no blood relation.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

is that a common hispanic last name then??

reply

not very common, del toro didn't make the top 50 most common list of hispanic names. Benicio's birth name is Benicio Monserrate Rafael Del Toro Sanchez, if he was named traditionally, del toro would have been his father's last name and sanchez would have been his mother's maiden name. Guillermo's birth name is Guillermo del Toro Gómez, so his father's last name should have been del toro and his mother's maiden name Gómez. But Guillermo was born in Mexico and Benicio was born in Puerto Rico. I think the last name is just a coincidence. I haven't been able to find any information about them having any kind of blood relation. fun fact: del toro means "of the bull"

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

they could be related... i mean the last name isn't common...

weird that they use both the mom and father's last names...

reply

its traditional for that ethnic background. nothing i've found says they are related.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

really so it is a common last name??

reply

well like i said earlier it didnt make the top 50 most common last names for hispanic descent. my last name isnt common but i have met others who share it. on a scale of 1-10 where 1 is most common and 10 is the last name u never hear, del toro is probably about a 6 or 7.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

right so it's rather uncommon...

reply

yeah. but not uncommon enough that the two have to be related.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

i guess not...

where was your quote from again??

reply

The Mummy

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

oh right im' not a Brendan Fraser fan at all...

reply

:) i think hes pretty hilarious

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

he can't act though...

i think his goofiness is just him being himself, like Ashton Kutcher...

reply

ive seen ashton kutcher in serious roles. i thought he did a good job.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

Ashton has gotten a little better...

Brendan is still horrible...

reply

eh i dont mind him.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

did u see 2012?? that was a good movie...

reply

naw i was way too engrossed in new moon. i saw it 4 times since it opened... saw it opening night at midnight- twilight was at 9 and then new moon. i have a lot of friends that wanted to go but couldnt. so i ended up seeing it 4 times this weekend with all different people. not that im complaining. the guys in the movie are absolutely gorgeous. lol guess that doesnt really interest u huh

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

wow 4 times crazy...

what's it with women and liking vampires?? and now you have tons of vampire shows and movies...

reply

dude i honestly dont know what it is. i mean, i dont think twilight was that great of a movie. it was good, yeah, but not terrific. but at the same time, it was totally addicting. i think new moon was way better than twilight. and theres just something about immortality that appeals. and its kind of sexy too! and a bit of a tragedy, really. when u have vampire/human love stories, how can it possibly end well? twilight is the only vamp story i know of where they stay together forever. ill have to wait and see what happens in true blood. the third season is coming next year. vamps are just this big addicting thing i just cant seem to quit!!

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

i think you women just like the good looking muscular guys...

reply

oh yes definitely!!! but the story line is pretty good too. lol

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

isn't it just another movie aimed at teenage girls??

reply

i suppose so. but im not a teenager and i like it. my friend jamie, he's in his 30s and he liked it. actually, everyone that ive talked to have liked it and out of like 20 people there was only 1 teenaged female. maybe it was aimed at that age group but that doesnt mean all sorts of people cant like it.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

i saw the first Twilight, thoguht it was okay... not bad...

my friend didn't like New Moon though, he said too much talking, not much action...

reply

well the movie had more action than the book did. these arent action stories, so people going to see them expecting a lot of action will be disappointed. i think these books were originally geared toward teenage girls, but with the amazing turnout the age range has greatly widened. thus 40+ year old females asking a 17 year old to sign her panties... gross.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

eww...

well it's still mainly targeted to girls/women... even though not just teenagers like it it seems...

reply

oh yeah definitely. but u might enjoy the next one. theres a lot more action in it. lol. u pit werewoves vs. vampire and vampire vs. vampire. it gets pretty intense.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

they need more attractive women other than Kristen Stewart...

reply

hmm i wouldnt know. but i thought rachelle lefevre wasnt that bad looking.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

the redhead?? good point.. forgot about her...

reply

yeah shes being replaced in eclipse by Bryce Dallas Howard. I dunno why they replaced her, im curious to see how it will turn out. i think a lot of ppl liked Rachelle Lefevre...

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

yea that's interesting...

Bryce Dallas howard is in alot of stuff lately...

maybe it's her daddy taht's helping her get these roles...

reply

i dunno, im kinda disappointed rachelle lefevre isnt gonna be in eclipse though. just cuz she was in the first 2 its just gonna be kinda weird i guess. unless they do an amazing make-up job...

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

that is weird why they would do that, but it happens...

maybe a money dispute...

reply

yeah maybe. i have no clue.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

have u seen teh Ugly Truth??

reply

yes omg it was funny!!! it was way too predictable though. i wanna see letters to juliet, it looks really good. i love chic flicks even tho they are super predictable. but i got tears in my eyes watching the previews!!!! lol.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

so what was yoru take on the Ugly Truth though?? would u say it is the truth??

what is letters to juliet??

reply

well, the ugly truth was very predictable... and yeah i guess its true cuz ppl are always pretending to be what they arent to impress somebody. and then they get tired of pretending. and the 2 of them spent so much time together they were bound to end up together in the end. letters to juliet is about this girl who reads a letter written like 50 years ago asking "juliet" what she should do about this man she loves. so she goes to help this old lady shes never met before find her "romeo". it looks adorable, but horribly predictable too. lol. i still wanna see it.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

who is in that movie??

what i mean in the Ugly Truth is would u say that's how men really think and how women really think??

reply

well yeah, to a point anyway. but everyone's different... Amanda Seyfried, Christopher Egan, and Vanessa Redgrave are i think the main characters in letters to juliet.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

oh it isn't out till 2010 thoguh right??

reply

yeah like in may. i think thats dumb. i mean, why are they previewing something now that comes out in 6 months? it previewed for new moon. they might as well have just previewed eclipse... that comes out june 30. i mean, theyve been done filming, and everyone would love a sneak peak.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

i guess some movies are meant to be hyped up well in advance... like these are supposed to be the summer blockbusters...

have u seen avatar??

reply

no not yet. it looks really good tho and im excited to see it. hopefully this sunday if i have time. have u?

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

yea i want to see Avatar some time.. the ratings were really good...

have u seen Up in The Air or Sherlock HOlmes??

reply

sorry, lost my internet for a long time and then i never checked my email.. haha i saw sherlock holmes but now up in the air. sherlock was good.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

Yeah .... about that...

I think he really is dead.
Not to say i wouldnt rather think of him as living but still i think they made it pretty clear.

They didn't show the bady cos .... u know who would want to look at the charred n crisp remains of the protagonist.

I liked the original ending better which implied he died of the tumor.

BUT ..... FOOD FOR THOUGHT THOUGH:-

Here is what i would like to ask....

Wouldn't he have survived if Mahone hadn't ratted the initial plan out to the feds?

So , Michael would'nt have to devise such an elaborate Plan-B Which included so many variables and complications in such a short time.
And he would have survived.

What do you guys think?

reply

honestly ill have to watch it again before giving my opinion... its been months lol. but i actually liked that he didn't die of the tumor, wasting away in pain until it kills him is no way for one of the fav characters to die. but i still think that if they ever wanted to they could bring him back. i think it was left open. =) but ill definitely get back to u once i have a chance to rewatch.

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

well did you ???
watch it again i mean ...

(just replying to the post by the way .... Hadn't checked my imdb profile im MONTHS!!!)

Also
someone recently poineted out that they could've used the blow torch that they used to open the hatch....

Check that too if you got around to ACTUALLY watching it again .

reply

I did watch it again!!! But that was months ago and now the little details have since escaped me. :( Maybe this weekend I'll watch it again!

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

Back where we started huh !! :'(
Anyways do reply when you do get around to watching it ...

P.S: that emoticon was an exaggeration by the way ( yeah .. DUH!!)

reply

I'll watch it soon! don't forget to get back on imdb... ;)

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

Deal ...

reply

I'm 100 % certain that the writers/producers/creator/showrunner(s) meant for him to be dead.

You know the first stage of mourning is denial?

Probably they just couldn't make a good electrocution scene (SFX, CGI etc.), or they didn't want to show the fans Michael dying a horrific death. But he's dead alright. His friends and family wouldn't go to his gravestone if he wasn't dead, the company is no more, so they probably went to the autopsy, read the coroners report etc.

The only reason you don't think he's dead is denial. My wife feels EXACTLY the same. She cried during "Michael's tape". And afterwards she was like... "It's not sure he's dead" and "They could make another season/DVD/whatever".
Denial.

But I'm not denying you your right to deny Michael's dead. But I mean, if the writers etc. intention was to have him dead, closure, and so forth, he's dead. Even if we didn't see the body. We didn't see Mahone's son's body either, did we? There were more characters that died without having their corpses shown also.

But if you don't want to think he's dead, go ahead. If it makes you feel better, it's possibly good for you.

reply

Haha I'm not saying he's not dead right now. I'm just saying that if the writers ever got bored they left it open enough that they could bring the show back if they really wanted. And Cameron was hardly in the show so I don't think it was crucial that we saw a dead body. =) All the important ones we saw their corpses. I'm just saying!

"Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guys, save the world..."

reply

Im with you i believe the writers in hopes of the show coming back would leave enough to start back up from. Im very surprised the show lost ratings. If that was the reason to cancel it..well what was on that time that competed with the show. I dont get how it won many awards yet was canceld. My girlfrend saw Sarah in anohthe show called the walking dead. It was weird seeing an older version of her. I see Dominic Purcell has like 4 new movies coming out this year hopefully they wont all end up on net flix. El Lecheros prostitute went to a magnet school in the ghetto of Dallas and has ben in many films. Wish I would of tryd acting as a kid. They made two X files movies way after the show finished so who knows they could make a movie. All the actors looked like they aged alot in the final episode . Well hope it comes back or a show as good. Nothing good on these days.

reply

I figured the 4 year later thing was, so that they could show the kid/Michael's son "running around". And to give (the audience) the sense that all the survivors were okay and happy enough. Without some time having passed, it would leave a whole different impression. They weren't free for a couple of days, they stayed free permanently.

reply

[deleted]

He's dead. It would be dumb to bring all this back after the way things played out.

Only the first season was worth it anyways.

reply

What's the point in saying only the first season was good? You're supposed to watch it as a whole. You're clearly not a fan.

You can't say he's dead without proof. The point in what he was doing was to make sure they were free but being on the run is pretty much the opposite of being free. The main thing that I think IM left out in proving his theory. What if they eventually get caught - which everyone does sooner or later in reality. Then what Michael MIGHT have done, would be for nothing. They definitely left it open for a reason. His Mom clearly lived a long time compared to him, regardless if she wasn't completely cured I think he would have chosen to live that long if he knew... - and he tends to know a lot.

reply

My only beef with this movie (or finale, whatever) Sara would not be put into GenPop, if word got out that she got killed or lost her baby because of prison thugs, the Warden and the Prison, as well as FDC could ALL be sued!!! Sara would most definitely be put in PC. I also doubt with Gretchen's Military/Police and Assassin background, she would be put into a prison like that, I'm sure that she and The General (and anyone involved with the Company) would all be put in a Federal Maximum Security Prison.

reply

I laugh at all the people that said it wouldn't happen because it wasn't possible. Because now they're doing exactly as we said they would. Start off from where they left off. They never showed him die, as we said. They did that for a reason. You know what they say when you assume and I bet you all feel pretty stupid for arguing about it based on pure assumption. If you didn't like the show that's fine but either way, they left it open for a possible (now definite) return.

reply

Seen your post, I recall the recent news: Went and Dom talked with Fox about a "Prison Break" return and Fox showed interest.
http://www.eonline.com/news/613405/fox-definitely-interested-in-prison-break-s-return-wentworth-miller-reveals

So now I'm wondering if they're going to bring Michael back from the dead, and if so, how on earth will they do it :)

reply

I could see it happening! Thank you for sharing this!
