The boxing in the movie

The boxing scenes were the hardest part to watch in this movie. Ving Rhames' skills, or lack-there-of, are non-existant. His footwork is atrocious, I've seen more polished boxers at Silver Golves events. I know he's an actor but he should at least be capable of throwing a decent punch.

I SOMEWHAT agree. I think it had to do more with the choreography and how the fights were shot.

From what I've seen of his other movies he is very good at doing fight scenes. In Undisputed he was great, Wesley looked more solid all around. But Ving pulled off the over-confident puncher style that was needed for that flick.

I think Ving is probably a very good fighter in real life, not professional but I doubt many people could take him down when it comes to street fighting.

The boxing scenes were horrible. They were very poorly done. Like the whole movie.

plus they cast a middleweight as Ali and shot all the fights in a tiny little room with no bleachers

The boxing is terrible. Patterson & Ali had very distinct styles & no effort was made to emulate them. When you have Ali throwing body punches, scene is wrong.
